we are extremely excited to announce our second double disk compilation retrospect on mood series! in 2020 and 2021, greyscale was full steam ahead on bringing new music to the cherished discography. in fact, in 2020, greyscale released over 20 eps just on the mood series itself! something we are very proud of and we wish to thank all the artists who have been involved up to this point. a hearty thank you from all at greyscale! as 2021 came we wanted to balance that out with a few retrospectives of the journey. and also, to revisit the cd format which we really enjoy doing compilations on. this installment looks back at mood series 21 thru 40 with a track from each ep! we hope this encourages you to check back with each original ep if you may have missed it and also to revisit some of your favorites. we would like to thank our supporters for being there to share the enjoyment and the excitement in what we are doing. your feedback has been tremendous and we want you to know we have many exciting and new projects coming (including some different ideas we are trying for the first time!).

greyscale is proud to announce the newest full-length album to the label. ignacio tardieu is the producer and >fades to grey< is the albums name. 10 outstanding tracks that delve thru different variations of dub techno that are sure to please the modern dub techno listeners and the most discerning of them. highlights include, >part 01< that even at 9+ minutes seems too short for this epic and atmospheric standout gem. >part 02< is a faster paced beauty that envelopes the listener in an airy almost orchestral cycle movements reminiscent of wolfgangs voigts gas project. but for the dancefloor! >part 05< is sure to be a standout as well! foreboding in the approach and majestic in its temperament, you wont find many deeper than this. parts 00, 03 and 08 all delve into more roots elements of dub foundations. pushing sonic boundaries while firmly respecting the lineage of the genre. lastly, part 09 might be the most experimental on the album leaving the listener excited about the future direction of ignacio tardieu. a >fades to grey< is another jewel in the greyscale discography. this release is as usual, mastered with grace by our own grad_u with visual respect and support from rima prusakova.

the new album from danish electronic trio system is a special kind of collaborative effort with piano magician nils frahm. his purpose-built improvisations on synth, organ and piano served as source material for the members of system (thomas knak, anders remmer & jesper skaaning), who merged his warm acoustic tones with their minimalist digitalism and set out to translate their distinctive clicks ÕnÕ cuts electronics into vivid soundscapes. over two years in the making, the resulting nine tracks are as sonically intriguing as they are touching. ranging from the mellow bliss of the title track to echoes of 90Õs and 2000Õs electronica and ambient sequences frequented by mesmerizing movements and sounds. the blending of piano and digital tones and noises into emotive pieces might instantly recall the work of alva noto and ryuichi sakamoto, though system and frahm come to quite different results.

terence fixmerÕs path through the changing techno landscape of the past 20 years has been anything but direct. indeed, the french born producer, musician and planete rouge label founder has long been influenced by the periphery of continental european dance music subgenres from electronic body music, new beat and acid, before combining them into his own pioneering hybrid of futuristic, ebm-inflected techno with classic releases such as 2001Õs muscle machine or the collaborative between the devil lp with nitzer ebbÕs douglas mccarthy as fixmer/mccarthy. while the sound in recent years has been rediscovered and recast in diverse contexts by a new generation of producers, through the cortex sees fixmer gravitating toward a different kind of industrial-tinged electronics, led as much (or more) by analogue sequencers, melodies and ultra-saturated sounds of synthesizers than drums and percussion. across eight tracks at a compact but varied 40 minutes, the lp touches on an aesthetic hinted at in recent ostgut ton releases (2016Õs beneath the skin ep and 2017Õs force ep), revealing a sonic narrative through noisy, screaming synth/vocal riffs with a jagged, guitar- like post-punk sensibility.

steiger are a piano trio trying to find a balance between composition and improvisation through the use of experimentation and electronics. the trios highly anticipated sophomore album give space was recorded at 7 different locations, with the music composed to fit and fight these locations within a dialogue of acoustics, atmospheres and appetition.

variable is the first compilation on pi electronics, which also kicks off the new catalogue peva. this various artists release includes the works of several artists involved in the label till now, along with some very familiar faces to pi that have been supporting the parties in the past years. the aim was to bring the main label roster - artists with original music on pi, such as jk flesh, ontal and damcase - under the same roof as artists that have been with the pi electronics project since its early days: the label s party residents, 3.14, nemmett and das along with other fellow athenians, unhuman, bmsk and the project Òi am legion, for we are manyÓ. the outcome will be available in cd, vinyl and digital format, while the vinyl sampler will feature jk flesh, ontal, nemmett and bmsk.

* back with the heat, chicago native dj jana rush kicks off objects limitedÕs 2017 with her debut album ÔpariahÕ. jana rush received attention for her mind-bending drum acrobatics on last year s Ômpc 7635Õ ep also released by objects ltd. jana started djing aged just 13, releasing her first record on dance mania back in 1996 but having a hiatus from music between 2000 to 2013. with ÔpariahÕ she has created an album rooted in chicago s footwork sound, but with a myriad of influences, such as jungle, acid, soul, jazz and house, developing her sound on from Ômpc 7635Õ. * we kick off with Ômidline shiftÕ whose breathy, clipped erotic vocals intertwine with a pulsing bass and dry 808 rims creating a shimmering robotic effect. moving on, the frantic Ôbeat mazeÕ confuses the mind with white noise rushes and interlocking snares. changing the scene, ÔdivineÕ is sweetly soporific and charming, a beautiful, almost eerie track. the pace picks right back up with Ô??? ??Õ, whose warbling jazz clarinets cut into a juke bounce. the stripped back beats of Ôbreak itÕ give one room to breathe before the croaking bass and distorted acid of Ôno fuks givenÕ. island people is a new band project consisting of mastering engineer conor dalton, grammy award winning producer david donaldson, and musician and dj graeme reedie. on their first self- titled record, they present their collaborative work that evolved over the past three years. being based in different cities, namely berlin and glasgow, files had to be exchanged back and forth between the three band members in order to create tracks. for their delicate sound structures, field recordings and other sound sources were heavily processed and rendered unrecognizable. layer after layer, the tracks came into being quiet naturally, not only reflecting their continuous way of working, but also incorporating their different and individual backgrounds: Òduring the whole creation of the album, we never realized our actions were quickly leading us into forming Èisland peopleÇ, we were too busy having fun, making music and sharing ideas.Ó the result of their collaboration is a timeless music that is as open as a natural phenomenon, developing a certain feeling of euphoria over time. all in all, Èisland peopleÇ is a pure listening record in the best tradition of ambient.

love and money front man james grant has collaborated with producer gordy goudie to form the korvids, releasing a dance album. for the older generation who might want to bust a move once more in honour of their younger selves. james says, i wanted to be someone else for a while. sound different. write different. it can be dreary being me all the time..i sing most of my vocals on the record in falsetto, which, as we know, is the international language of disco. the korvids marry their love of disco and 70 s funk with influences such as deodato, massive attack, miles and anything else that takes their fancy. after the success of their debut release beach coma, which was picked up by sirius us radio and remixed by balaeric legend jose padilla, the duo released bad faith, a beauteous cut of late 70 s disco remixed by love & money and steely dan s producer gary katz. james was the front man for love and money, everyone s favourite band from the 1980 s who should have been massive but somehow werent. the other half of the korvids, gordy goudie, is also no stranger to the business having produced simple minds and playing bass and guitar for the primevals and echo and the bunnymen.

in times where a compilation of 12-inch bangers passes as an album, telephones Òvibe telemetryÓ opts for a different approach. without being a departure from his 12Ós for sex tags ufo, full pupp and yours truly or his brilliant remix work for josŽ padilla and vangelis katsoulis, the norwegian producer from bergen who calls berlin his home, hones sound, skills and aesthetics on his debut long-player. Òvibe telemetryÓ is inspired by the pure feeling of listening to house, disco and techno, prior to knowing what it actually was: ambiguous, euphoric, mystical and melancholic. sonic and physical experiences, which names and origins were yet to be discovered.
